Dr. Joe Dutner is a board-certified endodontist with more than 20 years of clinical, educational, and leadership experience. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple University School of Dentistry before completing his specialty training in Endodontics through the U.S. Army Advanced Education Program at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Dr. Dutner currently serves as President of the American Board of Endodontics, the national organization responsible for certifying endodontic specialists. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to advancing the specialty through patient care, education, research, and clinical leadership. He is also a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association.
After serving more than 20 years in the U.S. Army Dental Corps and achieving the rank of Colonel, Dr. Dutner held numerous leadership roles, including Endodontic Consultant to The Surgeon General and Program Director of the Army’s Advanced Education Program in Endodontics. He was awarded the Army Surgeon General’s “A” Proficiency Designator in recognition of his clinical excellence and educational contributions.
Dr. Dutner’s passion for endodontics comes from helping patients have a comfortable experience while changing the way they think about root canal treatment. He enjoys working under the dental microscope, where attention to the smallest details allows him to preserve natural teeth and help patients get back to enjoying the foods and drinks they love.
Outside the office, Dr. Dutner has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jackie, for more than 24 years. Together they have three children and a busy household filled with several dogs and cats. A longtime admirer of the Pacific Northwest, he recently fulfilled his dream of calling the region home and enjoys exploring Puget Sound—especially through his newest hobby, scuba diving.
